Marty has 25 years of professional government and public relations experience combined with a four-year degree in Political Science and History. He has exceptional personal relations, diplomatic and negotiating skills for managing conflict and building consensus. Marty also possesses solid political instincts and ability to understand and work with large organizations, elected officials, and political candidates at the local, state and federal levels.
He combines strong communication, negotiation and public speaking experience with solid work ethic, innovative thinking, and problem solving skills. Marty's dedication to hard work has been demonstrated over the years in his involvement with social issues and political campaigns.
Marty is comfortable with public speaking environments ranging from large group settings to smaller and more intimate arrangements. His experience in legislative and government affairs has ranged in scope at the local , state and federal levels of government. Marty's legislative achievements include the creation of the Upper Mississippi International Port District, the Dedication of the "Dick Mulcahey Bypass" (US Highway 20 around Freeport, Illinois), and securing federal funds for the purchase of the American Red Cross, N.W. Illinois Chapter Headquarters.
In 2007, Marty dedicated himself to bettering northwest Illinois through elected office. As a candidate for the Illinois State Senate in 2008, Marty ran an aggressive and issue oriented campaign centered on economic development.
Despite defeat in the highly spirited and well coordinated campaign, Marty continued pursuing economic development in northwest Illinois through his company Great River International, Ltd. Additionally, Marty is a Director in the Haitian National Shipping Company, (HANASCO). Marty is also a partner in his wife's business, Ballroom By Jennifer.
Currently, as Facilities and Project Manager with the American Quality Schools Corporation (AQS), a non-profit educational management organization, Marty quickly assumed added responsibilities in his roll of managing public charter schools in Indiana and Missouri.
A graduate of Durand High School and Northern Illinois University, Marty has enjoyed the diversity of living in Chicago, Illinois - Madison, Wisconsin - Seattle, Washington and Galena, Illinois. Marty, his wife Jennifer and their three children, live in Galena.
